As standard, the following is included with our MC Service combined with Bronze Planning.
PRE-EVENT PLANNING
1. External Supplier / Service considerations: Detailed runthrough of full service checklist pertaining to Reception related items including external supplier and services check
2. Superior Runsheets & Event Files: detailed design of full running order with all formalities included, and risk aversion procedures, unexpected incident allowances, mood flow and guest management optimisation presented in the form of a superior event file -- highly detailed, colour coded for easy reference.
3. Meetings: 1-2 meetings to cover all planning required, typically a detailed meeting plus a pre-event final confirmation.
EVENT DAY MC & DIRECTOR SERVICE
1. Hosting: Full interactive hosting including multilingual (English/Cantonese/Mandarin) service available. Introduction, housekeeping and grand entrances; all formalities.
2. Translation: Live translation of parents speeches on request
3. Director & Coordinator Service: Senior director service and leadership of guest control and management, coordination and preparation of couple and guest involved in formalities and certain helpers, operation directions for all on-site suppliers and venue.
MINIMUM SUPPORT SERVICES REQUIRED
For the smooth delivery of services the following are generally required: (1) Professional sound service (Event Weddings internal preferred) - such as DJ or sound engineers with cordless microphones; (2) Venue coordinator (Operations manager).
We believe that the MC is the Custodian of the room.
Presentable and not over the top
With a 10 year career as a radio presenter, Event Wedding 's lead MC Sy Chung, and also Ivy are highly engaging and interactive. We prioritise presentability and comfort of the audience without being overdramatic or over the top; we are easy to follow for a large range of audience types; and we exercise judgment to ensure that the event is appropriate and enjoyable for all. Appropriateness and enjoyableness is about exercising judgment based on audience awareness and room awareness. While this might mean high energy for some, but on other occasions the goal may be: sim ple and pleasant, graceful and elegant or in some cases even chaos minimisation. Our experience is not just the ability to be able to do all these things, but that we can exercise judgment on what is appropriate.
Professional and Well-Managed
A wedding reception should have good energy and be enjoyable, but the highest priority is that the event must be professional and well organised. The MC is not an isolated service, but is the central hub for all things. It is the MCs responsibility to make everyone else look good, whether it's the venue, guests who are involved in presenting, all on-site suppliers, the audience and of course, the couple. This includes saying the right things, NOT saying the wrong things, drawing attention to some things and drawing attention away from some things, not putting people on the spot, helping people who have been put in the spot, talk situations out of awkwardness, and maintaining discipline without harshness.
Personality without self-indulgence
A goal of a professional MC is not about doing a great performance, or create high energy. It is as about saying the right thing as knowing when to be quiet. We believe in authenticity and sensibleness, without unnecessary theatrics or commentary, forced emotional moments or drawing attention away from the people who matter most.
Proper and appropriate humour, not a comedy show
A little humour, and on the spot creative responses can help guests relax and remain engaged. Where appropriate, we incorporate light-hearted observations and natural moments of humour, and not pre-prepared jokes. The goal is to create warmth and connection, not to turn the ceremony into a comedy sketch.
UNPARALLELED EXPERIENCE
Directing and hosting a wedding is not a side gig for us. Having hosted over 1000 weddings since 2011, Sy and Ivy's team Sydney's most experienced MC professionals. BILINGUAL HOSTING (ENGLISH / CANTONESE / MANDARIN)
We host our events in English and Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin) to ensure that all your guests all feel welcome and can be engaged in all the formalities. In addition to this, our MCs are also highly experienced in organising Chinese tea ceremonies and SE Asian betrothal gifts ceremony.
EVENT DIRECTING
MC service is normally included with full Reception Director service. This includes full coordination of all important guests and the couple, all guests, suppliers and the venue (See Wedding Director Section).

"Often we hear stories from friends that wedding days can be met with disaster. We were truly lucky that we have come across Sy Chung from Event Weddings whom has made our wedding day as seamless and smooth as it could be. Sy Chung is not only an extremely talented MC for our reception, he was also our full day coordinator and also our Ceremony host. Our wedding was across an 18 hour run sheet and not even one task has run overtime, infact the runsheet was so well made that we felt comfortable throughout the day.
